Secondary Service Injection
Cable Handler/Puller/Tensioner
Low-voltage ( <600V ) secondary service cables are the last link in the power grid—the critical connection between distribution transformers and individual customers.
At many utilities, secondary service cables account for nearly half of all cable faults. Novinium Underground's silicone-gel injection is an alternative to repair and replacement of secondary cables. The silicone gel is a unique two-part material that transforms from a fast-flowing mixture into a non-flowable gel in approximately 48 hours. The injection of silicone-gel purges water from the conductor and forms a physical barrier against water intrusion that protects the conductor from corrosion.
Secondary service injection can easily be implemented into utility reliability programs.
Options
Cost Effective |
Average cost of rejuvenation is one-third or less the cost of replacement.
|
System Friendly |
Requires very little of your time and your staff’s attention – trained crew can work directly with dispatchers.
|
Capital Efficient |
FERC and RUS approved for efficient deployment of your capital.
|
Customer Friendly |
Saves destruction of customers’ yards, average time to address segment < 90 minutes.
|
Extended Cable Life |
Cable rejuvenation increases the dielectric strength of your underground system making it like new. The time-released nature of the injection process allows long-term delivery of the functional materials so that rejuvenation not only reverses the failure trend of installed cable, but outperforms cable replacement in the long-term.

Sustainable |
Novinium Rejuvenation has helped utilities mitigate approximately 660K metric tons of CO2.
